Stargates

Stargates in Caldonia are powered by the mod "Wormhole X-Treme" which is modelled after the Stargates from the popular "Stargate" science fiction franchise. They provide the only user accessible method of travelling between different worlds and large distances. Due to the multi world nature of Caldonia the standard Minecraft Nether portals are incompatible with the server set up.
Once a Stargate is active it will permit travel through it for anyone for up to 30 seconds.
Please note that when using a wormhole it is possible you will briefly see the destination world corrupted while the chunks are loaded in. This is because the Minecraft client has no understanding of multiple worlds and must have it's existing chunk data overwritten for the same area. It is possible, although unlikely in recent versions that you may fall through the map and die.
At current only administrators can create new Stargates, this is because the commands could be abused to farm resources. We additionally do not want the gate name space polluted with poorly named gates.
It is planned that in the future users will be able to create their own gate network within their own world. This network will be separate to the primary transworld network. It is envisaged that users will provide their own resources for the interworld gates and that will limit there growth, at current this would stand at 5 obsidian and 1 stone button.
IDC (Iris Deactivation Code)

In the "Stargate" franchise the Iris is a piece of metal that covers the front of the Stargate, this prevents matter from travelling through to the destination. In the franchise matter is destroyed upon hitting the Iris. In the Wormhole X-Treme implementation of Iris' the player is simply returned to the source gate.
Gates with an Iris have an additional switch below the activation button, this switch can be toggled by anyone who has physical access to the Stargate. While the Iris is activated other players are unable to travel to the gate, unless they know the IDC.
The IDC is a pass phrase which provided using the /dial command which temporarily deactivates the Iris for as long as the Stargate is active. Players wishing to leave a gate with an Iris currently activates should just press the activation button, the Iris will be temporarily disabled once the /dial command has been given.
